Do Not Worry

Alot of misinformation is circulating regarding Council's decision to allow on road advertising.

The facts are:

1. The prime site is the swimming pool car park

2.  All other sites are off the main road and in areas of only 50-60 km per hour eg outside the Council offices where the majority of both 2 and 4 wheeled vehicles are slowing down anyway

3. The logos which are applied to the road surface are only down for a short space of time - no more than a month generally only a couple of weeks

4. At any one time we are only anticipating 4 logos to be on our road surfaces and two of these would be in the swimming pool car park

5 Our General Manager a keen bike rider rode over the test site to check safety aspects and was completely satisfied.

6 The logos are not large enough to allow both wheels of a bike to be on them at the same time

Ride of the Month

Bombala to Cooma

Duration of ride 89kms, about an hour without stops

About the ride.  This ride takes you through typical monaro countryside - rolling treeless plains, mountain and escarpement views - and has good curves and uphill climbs.

Leaving Bombala you are travelling in a northerly direction towards Nimmitabel via the Monaro Highway.  A stop off in Nimmitabel is highly recommended. Nimmitabel is one of the most bike friendly villages on the Monaro.  A visit to Pete & Brit's Nimmitabel Leather Shop is an essential - they have a wide variety of leather jackets, jeans, vests and all kind of accessories - as is a stop for coffee and delicious snacks at CJ Harveys Coffee Bar (don't forget to view the artwork and sculpture, it changes regular and is always of interest).  If you wish to spend a little more time in Nimmitabel then stay over at the Nimmitabel Motel or the Royal Arms or the Federal Hotel.  These are all in the main street of Nimmitabel and are all bike friendly.

After leaving Nimmitbel you will head in a northely direction towards Cooma.  Again there are some great bends, the road surface is good and the vistas are inspiring.  Look out for the tin cows near the Cooma sales yards!

Once in Cooma call into the Cooma Visitors Information Centre Sharp Street Cooma for local information.
