High Country Riders

26 August 2008

While the cold weather can be invigourating, don't forget that a frosty morning can lead to icy or wet conditions, particularly on corners where the bank or trees create shadows in the morning.

Bega Valley Council has been doing some roadside vegetation clearing on the Darrah. This has improved the vision on a number of corners, but remember that it can still be hard to see oncoing traffic very far ahead on these twisties and there are still some rought patches on the road, so ride within your skills and prepare for everything (Note: There is one bad corner, which is all dirt - watch for it 5/9/08). I went down the Imlay (unfortunately in the car) last weekend and it was in reasonable condition as well. A few areas with the seal stripping, but generally good.

Soon warmer weather should encourage us out onto the roads. In the mean time, if you are planning a ride and would not mind some company, let me know and I will let others know.

People can apply to become members and rest assured that we are not planning to make this a very formal association. The focus will be on enjoying our hobby. Details of membership are on the link showing to the left.

Until the next ride.
